Tomatoes

 

All of the plants we grow at Edible Forest Gardens nursery are open sourced and open pollinated.  Our tomatoes are grown from seed and are sold in single pots.

Black Zebra

A wonderful twist on the green zebra this beautiful tomato has medium sized fruit deep red with deep green stripes. pick slightly early for full flavour.

Blue Pitts

One of the blue cherry tomatoes.  Large cherry type tomato changes from green lavender ending with a pinkish red.  Very sweet. An indeterminant tomato (it will be a large climber)

Dancing with Smurfs

This beautifully named tomato is a wonderful purple blue black colour.  It's colour is from the sunlight, any part not exposed will be a pinkish red.  3-3.5 sized fruits very sweet.

Giallo a Grappoli

This wonderful tomato is an old Italian variety which a storing tomato.  The fruit won't rippen on the bush and is picked after the bush starts to die.  It is then hung in a cool dark area and picked when needed. This lovely fruit is a beautiful peach to gold in colour though tougher skinned it can last on the bench top for over a month.

Old Ugly

The Old Ugly was given to us by an old Italian who was given the seed by an Old Italian ...... Well you get the idea. A very large tomato with more flesh than seed.  What it lacks in looks it makes up in taste.

Macedonian

IThe Macedonian tomato was again given to us by an Italian gentleman who said it had been passed down through his generations. A lovely tomato similar shape to the ox heart. large shrub.

Yellow pear centiflora

A lovely little yellow pear 2-3cm.  It has a lovely strong tomato flavour and bears heavily.

Peacevine Cherry

The Peacevine tomato was developed by Dr Alan Kaplar.  Full bearer of 2cm size fruits with a wonderful flavour bourne on trusses. high vitamin C content with earns its name from the high content of amino butyric acids which calms the body.

red pear centiflora

A lovely red pear shaped tomoto.  Being a centiflora has 100's of fruit.

A brilliant producer

Peacevine centiflora

Peacevine centiflora has all the benifits of the cherry form but producers 100's of fruit.  A beautiful sweet bountiful fruit.  A vigorous indeterminant climber.

OSU Blue

The OSU is the first of the blue tomatoes. It was originally developed by Oregan State University, by crossing the blue pigment from the egg plant to give tomatoes a higher antioxidant level. Once the first was developedit has been proven and improved on. A lovely tomato a high producer.

Chadds Ford Green

A Tom Wagner tomato. Similar to the Green zebra with less stripes and a beautiful peach coloured centre. Less acidic than most tomatoes so are prefered by people who can't eat a normal tomato.Very sweet, medium sized fruit.

Chakamas Blueberry

This is the darkest of the blue tomatoes.  A medium sized fruit and bears well.  Lovely flavour.

Orange red oval centiflora

A beautiful sweet oval tomato.  Being a centiflora produces extremely well. 100's of yummy sweet fruit.

Chadds Ford Red

Another Tom Wagner beautiful tomato. Red in colour with flecks of orange gold through it. A wonderful flavour and texture.

Fahrenheit Blue

This is one very unusual tomato.  It prefers the cooler and shaded parts of the garden. The foliage can look a little withered in the heat but the fruit is still really lovely

Nepal

The Nepal tomato is a cold tolerant tomato so is wonderful for those cooler areas .  It is reported it should over winter in igloos so you can have fresh tomatoes all through winter.
